Lake Stephens to host fireworks show on July 5

SURVEYOR, WV (WOAY) – Raleigh County Parks and Recreation recently announced a fireworks celebration will be held at Lake Stephens on Sunday, July 5.

Sydney Clyburn, an office manager with Lake Stephens, said they wanted to hold the celebration on the day after Independence Day to give people more options and extend the weekend festivities.

“Previously even before COVID, we had coordinated with Beckley Events when they were still planning on having their fireworks. We didn’t want to step on any toes and we kind of wanted to be able to extend the Independence Day celebration by offering them on Sunday,” Clyburn said.

The fireworks will start at 10 P.M. and can be viewed from the beach, the dam or on the water. The Aqua Park and Splash Pad will be closed on July 5, but the beach will open at 6:00 PM. Swimming will be aloud from 6:00 PM until dusk.

Viewing the fireworks from the beach will cost $3 per person.

The overlook will be closed to the public on July 5.
