HINTON, WV AND BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Summers County girls basketball will make a fifth straight appearance at the state tournament, following a 47-43 overtime win over Charleston Catholic in a Class A Region 3 co-final.
The Lady Irish would lead by at least 10 points for a portion of the first half, but the Lady Bobcats would rally behind 13 points from Taylor Isaac and 12 from Gavin Pivont in the victory.
Summers County is the #5 seed in the Class A state tournament and will play Pocahontas County on Thursday, March 12 at 9:00 PM. The Lady Warriors won 77-40 against Greenbrier West.
In boys sectional play, Woodrow Wilson defeated Riverside 84-55 behind 26 points from Ayden Ince. The Flying Eagles will host the Region 3 Section 2 title game Friday against Princeton, who won 64-57 against Greenbrier East.
