WOAY – Marshall junior running back Brenden Knox was named Wednesday to the preseason watch list for the Doak Walker Award. The honor is given annually to the top running back in college football.
Knox, a Columbus, Ohio native, is the reigning Conference USA MVP after rushing for 1,387 yards and 11 touchdowns last season for the Thundering Herd. He is one of the key returnees for the Marshall offense, which carries more weight following news Wednesday that quarterback Isaiah Green is entering the transfer portal.
Knox led Conference USA in carries, rushing yards and yards-per-game average in 2019, and has 10 100-yard games in 18 career games. He is the first Marshall player named to a preseason watch list in 2020.
Marshall is slated to open the season at East Carolina on August 29.
