Kids to experience outdoor adventure at Oak Hill Naturalist Program

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – The city of Oak Hill is hosting a Kid’s Naturalist Program on Saturday, June 22 at Needleseye Park.

With the park’s breathtaking beauty as a backdrop, kids will experience outdoor adventure like no other.

“We wanna promote kids to come out and enjoy nature within the park,” said Parks & Rec Director Josh Sapio. “Any child from 5 to 12-years-old, accompanied by their parents or guardians.”

The kids will also get to go on a scavenger hunt and build a nature mobile while enjoying the great outdoors, led by community activity leaders.

“On a nature hike to identify creatures big and small. We have face painting plans, have the kids build a survival shelter while we’re out there — scramble on some rocks,” Sapio said.

He says it’s all about promoting health and wellness within the community, getting kids outside with their families, and enjoying Needleseye.

“It’s a beautiful park; it’s one of Oak Hill’s newest municipal parks and we’re excited for the expansion that’s happening here,” said Sapio. “And just to introduce the community to Needleseye Park and get people outside.”

If you miss this one, there’s another Kid’s Naturalist Program on July 20, 2024 — and if you want to know more…

“We invite people to join the parks and recreation page to check out all the other events, along with the event flier for this particular event,” the Parks & Rec Director said.
