Charleston, WV (WOAY) – An elementary school teacher has been charged in Kanawha County with one count of Battery and Assault of a disabled child on Tuesday.
According to the West Virginia State Police, 55-year-old Patricia Summerfield was arrested at Holz Elementary in Charleston, WV.
A media release from WVSP states that Summerfield “grabbed the 3-year-old disabled child and drug her across the floor causing minor injuries. This incident was witnessed by two other school employees.”
Troopers say this investigation is still ongoing.Â
Patricia Summerfield appeared in Kanawha County Magistrate court and was released on a $75,000 cash bond. She has a preliminary hearing set on April 10, 2025, at 1:45 p.m.
