Kanawha County man sentenced to more than 20 years for federal drug conviction

Chelyan, WV (WOAY) A Kanawha County man will spend more than two decades behind bars for a federal drug conviction.

46-year-old Tracey Brown of Chelyan was sentenced to 21 years and 10 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for distributing large quantities of methamphetamine.

According to court documents, Brown transported approximately 17 pounds of meth from Ohio to an Elkview residence in December of 2023, where he admitted he planned to distribute the drugs.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant the following day and seized the remaining supply.

Officials say Brown has an extensive criminal history, with more than 30 prior convictions.

Federal prosecutors say the case highlights ongoing efforts to target drug trafficking in southern West Virginia.
