Kanawha County, WV (WOAY) – Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating an early morning shooting.
According to a media release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, a 15-year-old female was shot in the early morning hours of Monday, July 15, 2025, on Alabaster Drive in Jefferson WV.
Deputies say juvenile was injured during a disagreement between two adult males. The victim remains hospitalized in stable condition, and her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
One of the adult males involved in the incident has been located and taken into custody. His name has not been released at this time.
At this time Kanawha County Deputies have formally charged 19-year-old Larry Joe Chapman III of Charleston with Malicious Wounding following this morning’s shooting. Investigators say Chapman became angry during a disturbance and fired a shot striking the victim.
Chapman is still at large, and the public should consider him armed and potentially dangerous. If you see him or know his whereabouts, do not approach him.
