Kanawha County, WV (WOAY) – A Kanawha County Circuit Judge has ruled that the West Virginia Water Development Authority violated the state constitution by awarding a five-million-dollar grant to an out-of-state catholic institution.
The lawsuit was brought by the ACLU of West Virginia on behalf of the American Humanist Association.
Judge Richard Lindsay ruled that the state constitution prevents the use of public funds for religious education and advocacy.
