John H. Craig III pleads not guilty in the fatal stabbing in Fayette County

FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY)- John H. Craig III pleaded not guilty to murder and assault charges during his arraignment at the Fayette County courthouse on Thursday.

Back in late March 2024, he was charged with felony murder and malicious assault after a double stabbing. He was arrested after an hours-long manhunt that ended after former Fayette County Sheriff, Mike Fridley, found the suspect under Kanawha Bridge.

The stabbing left a man dead and another injured in Kanawha Falls. He has been held at Southern Regional Jail without bond since.

The chief assistant prosecutor, Jennifer Crane, will be representing the state for the trial. 15th Judicial Circuit Thomas H. Ewing preceded over the arraignment.

Criag’s trial is set for March 20th, 2025.
