Jim Justice gives shout out to Alderson holiday book drive

Alderson West Virginia is a one of a kind town, and in that town lies a true Christmas miracle.

“We want to recognize a lady, her name is Sarah Alderson and she is the owner of the Alderson store and she has been working really hard over the past six years to make something like this possible.” said Jim Justice.

Sarah Alderson has been working diligently to make their annual book drive possible and this year, they are calling upon the community for a helping hand.

With only five days left to get books and donations in and nearly three hundred books to go, Alderson says anything whether it is books or money is appreciated.

Getting these books into the hands of local kids is extremely important for a number of reasons.

“Its having them read, its showing them something about their state, about their community, and about possibilities of what they could be, what they could do, people who have been in their school and what those people have done and it encourages them in all sorts of ways,” Sarah Alderson said.

Three hundred books in five days is no easy feat, but with Christmas in the air and the help of the governor, spirits are high that something will work out.

Six years ago Alderson and a co-worker dreamt up the book drive has made the annual holiday book drive possible by working around the clock to provide reading materials to over five hundred local children, to find out more about what they do, head over to their Facebook or stop in the shop.
