OAK HILL, WV (WOAY)- June is National Dairy Month, it’s a month dedicated to celebrating the dairy industry and what it does for the economy. As we are in the heat of the summer, what better way to feature it than having some delicious ice cream in your hometown.
Visiting and supporting your local ice cream shop creates a unique experience for each customer.
“It’s a nice and friendly environment and we treat everyone like family. That’s, you know, so we want people to feel at home and to be able to have good customer service. So when they come in the door, there’s someone behind the counter who has a smile,” said Debbie Calvert, the mother of the frozen barn owner.
Not only does the frozen barn provide a delicious treat, but it also provides jobs for local teenagers. At the beginning of the season, thirty local teens are hired for different positions within the shop.
“Chances are, it’s their first jobs. That way they get the experience of meeting different people and being able to communicate and be able to be out in the, you know, the public’s eyes, to be able to grow their personalities,” explained Calvert.
So, whether it’s in a cone or a cup, there’s no better time to treat yourself.
“You can come in and eat inside where it’s cool on a very hot day. Or if you’d like, we have the patio outside that you can go and a out on the patio and just come and enjoy. Have a good time,” said Calvert.
