GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – We’re just two days away from the 100th State Fair of West Virginia, and the Lewisburg Fairgrounds is buzzing with preparation activity.
Chief Executive Officer, Kelly Collins, says it’s a collaborative effort months in advance to ensure they pull off the cherished tradition without a hitch.
“For me, it’s a personal accomplishment as well. My grandfather and his brothers were some of the founding members of the State Fair. So it’s a big deal for my family and me to still be here 100 years later, celebrating the State Fair of West Virginia and getting to be a part of it,” said Collins.
According to the CEO, she also has several cousins involved in the fair, and her kids are starting to show in the fair.
“For us, it’s a family event and we hope it’s like that for several others across our state and region,” Collins said. “It’s really big, socially and educationally. But economically it’s very important to our community.”
