Itmann Mining Company LP announces plans to idle operations at Wyoming County facilities

Wyoming County, WV (WOAY)-Itmann Mining Company LP, a subsidiary of Core Natural Resources, has announced plans to idle part or all of its operations at the Itmann Mine #5 and Preparation Plant in Wyoming County.

In an official statement to WOAY, the company states that the change will take effect in early August.

The reasons given for the stop were weaker-than-expected market conditions and broader economic pressures impacting both the industry and this specific site.

More than 200 workers are expected to be affected by the move.

Company officials say they’re notifying employees now to give them time to prepare, and they’re working to ensure the transition is handled as smoothly as possible.

The announcement comes as coal companies across the region face growing challenges from global demand shifts and regulatory changes.

WOAY will continue to follow this story and provide updates on the impacts on workers and the local community.
