Inner Sunshine Arts hosting Black Girls Peace and Paint open studio series starting on April 17

Beckley, WV (WOAY) Coming to Beckley this spring, Inner Sunshine Arts is hosting Black Girls Peace and Paint, an open-studio event series focused on supporting the mental health of Black girls and women in Southern West Virginia.

Inner Sunshine’s founder, Kabrea James, says the series will use creative expression to provide a safe space for relaxation, connection, and healing.

With support from the Black Girls Dream Fund, the program includes three paint sessions leading up to an Ebony Ball and Art Showcase.

The first session kicks off Friday, April 17, at the Southern West Virginia Multicultural Museum and Community Center at 110 Washington Avenue.

Additional sessions are scheduled for May 8 and June 6th, with the final showcase set for June 27.

All events are free to attend, with light refreshments provided.

Participants are encouraged to bring themselves and wear clothes they don’t mind getting a little paint on.
