Cabell County, WV (WOAY) – A Huntington man, Timothy Lane Crowder, 44 years old, pleaded guilty to unlawful receipt of gratuities.
Crowder admitted to receiving $24,525.33 from disability benefits for veterans while he was employed by the Veterans Benefits Administration at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Court documents state that Crowder took around 10 to 20 percent of the award benefits to the 13 veterans he helped with their claims between September 17, 2020, and July 26, 2023.
Crowder is scheduled to be sentenced on October 27, 2025, and faces up to 5 years in prison, three years supervised release, and a $250,000 fine, while also owing back the $24,525.33 in restitution.
