Huntington man has pleaded guilty to a gun-related crime

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – A Huntington man has pleaded guilty to a gun-related crime.

Lovus Austin Brewer, a 28-year-old Huntington man, pleaded guilty on Monday, January 5, to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Court records state that on May 4, 2025, law enforcement responded to reports of shots fired in a Huntington residence. When they arrived, they saw Brewer and ordered him to raise his hands in the air. When he did, officers spied a black pistol with an extended magazine on his right rear hip. They recovered the weapon.

Felons by law are not allowed to have a firearm or ammo. Brewer knew he was unable to have a firearm due to his prior felony convictions for possession with intent to deliver meth back on August 21, 2017, and fleeing with reckless indifference on September 22, 2022.

Brewer is scheduled to be sentenced on April 13, 2026. He faces at most 15 years in prison, 3 years supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
