Humane Society of Raleigh County connecting furbabies to seniors

They’re part of our family and we love our furbabies so much.

They make great companions and dear friends for senior citizens, so they won’t feel so alone.

That’s why every Wednesday for the foreseeable future the Humane Society of Raleigh County is offering 50 percent off pet adoptions to senior citizens.

“We believe no matter your age you deserve a little love from a furry friend,” said Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator Hannah Cottle.

True love is your nearest animal shelter. Seniors, head over to the Humane Society of Raleigh County to find your next furry friend.

Having a furbaby in your family provides so many benefits.

“A lot of people, they can’t get around as well when they get older or they just don’t have the means. Something that can help keep you a little active is wonderful,” Cottle said. “It gets boring sitting in your house all day by yourself, so having a little feline friend or a dog companion makes great company.”

According to the volunteer & outreach coordinator — so far they’ve had a handful of cats adopted, which she calls great to see.

“We love seeing, especially some of our older cats getting adopted by people who have the time and patience to let them chill out and let their true colors come out,” said Cottle.

She says the humane society loves to give back and help the senior community not feel alone.

“And obviously we love seeing all of our animals getting adopted out and finding great homes,” Cottle said.

Adoptions are every Wednesday 11 am to 4:30 pm at 325 Grey Flats Rd., Beckley.
