Hinton, WV (WOAY) – After a one-day delay, Bluefield and Summers County met on Thursday in a much-anticipated matchup featuring the top-ranked team in Class AA and the second-ranked team in Class A.
It marked the final regular season home game for Brittney & Whittney Justice, who both broke the Lady Bobcats’ all-time scoring record on Monday, and entered the game at 1,746 career points each.
It was the Beavers who enjoyed a fast start, with Dani Janutolo scoring several baskets early after the press forced multiple turnovers. Summers County, though, rallied to take the lead in the first half and go on to win 52-46.
Whittney Justice led all scorers with 18 points and now has 1,764 points for her career, while Brittney had 16 points (1,762). Janutolo scored 14 for Bluefield.
