How are Snow Days determined

Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – This latest round of snow caused widespread school cancellations around the area on Monday and Tuesday. With bitterly cold temperatures expected throughout the week, there’s a possibility for more to come.

According to Fayette County Schools Superintendent David Warvel, the decision to close school is not an easy one.

Closures and delays can have a major impact on learning progress, but remote learning helps offset this. Warvel says kids still need traditional snow days as a balance.

However, at the end of the day, the decision comes down to safety.
