BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – The Hopsice of Southern West Virginia will be hosting its 2020 Camp Hope virtually.
Camp Hope is a day camp for kids who have lost a significant loved one. The camp focuses on emotional grief, and the Hospice still wants to offer this opportunity despite the regulations of COVID-19.
“All of the social distancing recommendations of the Governor and the CDC really led us to put together an actual camp,” said Social Services Coordinator Christina Bailey. “We have to do planning far in advance. At the time that we would have planned that, there was no way that that would have been an option. We toyed with the idea of a virtual camp for a while, and finally just decided that that was the best opportunity that we could offer kids in our community to help with their grief process.”
Virtual Camp Hope will run August 25-27 at the Hospice.
