WOAY – The ACC has finalized game days for the 2020 college football season, with Virginia Tech learning the order in which it will play its 11 games.
The Hokies’ season opener is September 12 at Lane Stadium against NC State, while the following week will see Virginia visit Blacksburg for the Commonwealth Cup rivalry.
As was decided last week, each of the ACC teams (and Notre Dame) would play five home and five road games against conference teams, and one home non-conference matchup. The Hokies will host Liberty on November 7; the Flames were originally going to visit Lane Stadium September 5.
It was confirmed that West Virginia-Florida State and Marshall-Pitt will not be played in any location this season; the Seminoles will host Samford September 19 for their non-conference game, and the Panthers will play Miami (Ohio) on September 12.
Also on Thursday, the USA Today Coaches Poll released its preseason top 25, with the Hokies ranked #24. They are one of three ACC teams in the top 25, along with top-ranked Clemson (which will play at VT December 5) and #19 North Carolina; Notre Dame is ranked #10. The poll also includes four Big 12 teams, led by #6 Oklahoma.
