Hinton “hub” prepares for Census Day

HINTON, WV (WOAY) – Representatives across the state have been hard at work preparing for the 2020 Census Action Day. Hinton is home to an action day hub that is striving to raise the response rate of Summers County. The hub, located at the Hinton Public Library, is of greater importance to the census in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The census brings nearly $7 billion in federal money to West Virginia,” said Hinton Public Library Director Austin Persinger. “It also determines the size and location of federal and state house and senate districts. So everybody that gets counts is important.”

West Virginia is a notoriously difficult state to garner responses from on the Census.
