Hinton cancels West Virginia State Water Festival

HINTON, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia water festival, held every summer in Hinton, has been officially postponed for 2020.

Despite making serious efforts to make this year’s festival happen, the festival committee ultimately decided that it would be too risky for the health of the town’s population.

“We called it off once, and then we went back and said ‘Ok, we just might give it a try,’” said the President of the West Virginia State Water Festival Mary Haley. “So we then met and decided it just was not safe and we’re trying to protect our community. We don’t want people in our community to get the virus, so we’ve decided that this is the best way to handle it.

The 2021 water festival is still scheduled to take place
