Hinton Area Foundation accepts grant applications for community improvement projects

HINTON, WV (WOAY) – Hinton Area Foundation is accepting grant applications from local organizations to help fund community improvement projects.

Hinton Area Foundation is choosing several local organizations that want to improve buildings, landmarks, and programs to receive the grant.

“We call it the MAD grant, it’s short for making a difference. Basically, it made for people who are doing community improvement projects,” said Executive Director Myra Hogan.

The non-profit organization will disperse over $12,000 between the selected applicants. Depending on project size, the Hinton Area Foundation will match the funding for the project.

“We give particular priority to folk who apply who have matching funds to go with the funds we might give,” said Hogan.

Within the past year, Hinton Area Foundation has helped over 8 organizations fund projects.

“It feels good to be able to honor people’s initiative and their work that they’re trying to do in the community and keeping organizations supporting the community in every way possible,” said Hogan.

The deadline to apply for the grant is September 30th.
