Herd That rallies to advance to TBT quarterfinals

WOAY – In one of the games of the 2020 tournament, Herd That rallied from a large deficit to defeat The Money Team and move on to The Basketball Tournament’s quarterfinals.

The squad, which mostly consists of former Marshall men’s basketball players, found themselves in a double-digit deficit for most of the afternoon in Columbus. They trailed 40-24 after the first quarter, but were able to cut the deficit to seven points at halftime before The Money Team gained momentum again early in the second half.

In the fourth quarter, former WVU standout Devin Williams had two free throws which would’ve give The Money Team the victory via the Elam Ending, but he missed both, allowing Herd That to go on a 16-2 run to close out the win.

Chris Cokley led all scorers with 32 points for Herd That, while Jacorey Williams added 30. Fayette County native Rondale Watson, who played high school basketball at both Oak Hill and Greenbrier East, recorded five points, six assists, and four rebounds.

Herd That will play Overseas Elite in the quarterfinals at 2 PM Saturday. This is the team that defeated Best Virginia in the second round last year.
