WOAY – Herd That, a team of mostly Marshall men’s basketball alumni, advanced to the second round of The Basketball Tournament with their 80-65 win over the Peoria All-Stars.
Herd That was originally going to face Best Virginia (WVU men’s basketball alumni) and then Playing for Jimmy V in the first round, but both of those teams had to withdraw after players tested positive for COVID-19.
Herd That started the game on the front foot, led by 22 points from Jacorey Williams. Zach Smith recorded 10 points, while Rondale Watson – who played high school basketball at Oak Hill and Greenbrier East before going to first Wake Forest and then Marshall – chipped in with six points.
Herd That will face The Money Team, the seventh overall seed, in the “Super 16” at 2:00 PM on Thursday in Columbus, Ohio.
