A pretty active weather day across Southern West Virginia for your Sunday. The radar has estimated anywhere between 4-6 inches of rain in parts of Eastern Fayette and Western Greenbrier Counties. Other bullseyes of heavy rain has also shown themselves across parts of Mercer, Summers, Raleigh, Wyoming and McDowell Counties. Multiple roads have been washed out as of writing this post with other roads impassable or closed due to the high water.
While we are looking at some dry time Monday and Tuesday, the rain is certainly not completely gone because we are expecting at least a small rain chance every day of the next 7 days. One of the most likely days we will see rain and the potential for thunderstorms is Saturday. Here is a look at what the European shows around 6 PM on Saturday.
Speaking of the European model, here is its futurecast rainfall over the next 7 days. Most people see over an inch of rain with a little higher rainfall totals predicted over Nicholas and Fayette Counties. Continue to watch for flash flooding potential through the next days as this rain is falling over areas who have just recently recieved heavy rain.
Taking a look at the full 7 day forecast. Temperatures won’t move much as there’s a roughly 5 degree temperature spread throughout the next 7 days. The big key here is the rainfall and thunderstorm potential each day. Most likely rain looks to be Wednesday and Saturday.
