Hearing begins for Mercer County man accused of gouging out neighbor’s eyes

PRINCETON, WV (WOAY) – Richard Wayne Ellison, accused of murdering his neighbor, appeared in court via closed-circuit from Southern Regional Jail.

Ellison was arrested last Sunday after being accused of gouging out his neighbor Benny Fouch’s eyes with his thumbs.

Ellison claims Fouch’s rooster was crowing too loudly, and after killing the rooster, killed Fouch. An officer involved in the case testified in front of the Magistrate Court and claims Ellison said he was hearing voices from Lucifer after killing Fouch.

Probable cause was found in the case, and it will be moved to a grand jury in July.
