Often, people think they have to go out of state or to a big city hospital to get great care.

“It’s just not true. If your community hospital focuses on doing the right thing, quality is important to them, as it is at WVU Medicine PCH, then they can receive the same awards you see in large institutions,” said President/CEO Karen Bowling. “You’re getting care close to home that is graded at a five-star level.”

It means a lot to the community to receive high-quality medical care, especially when it comes to the Mountain State’s serious health statistics.

“We have the highest incidence of heart disease, pulmonary disease, diabetes, and all the complications that go along with that,” Bowling said. “We’re good at taking care of people with very significant health problems who live in our area. I hope it gives them a sense of security because I know it does me, that this is something we focus on, and think about every day when our patients come into our facility.”

According to Bowling, she values the entire team for all their contributions, loyalty, expertise, and compassion.

“We have great doctors, great nurses, great respiratory therapists, and physical therapists; everybody on the team that focuses attention on getting people back to the highest quality of care we can get them to when they’re discharged and follow up with them,” said Bowling. “So this validates what we already do, and know that we do, which is take great care of our patients.”

PCH’s ratings and recognitions are significant.

“We’re super proud of all of them,” Bowling said, adding to look up Princeton Community Hospital on Healthgrades. “They’ll be able to see the things we do particularly well.”
