Monroe County, WV (WOAY)- The U.S. Forest Service has closed the Hanging Rock Observatory’s fire tower due to structure safety issues.
According to an official Facebook post from the observatory, a forest service engineer inspected the tower a few weeks ago.
Initial plans involved blocking off the walkway while allowing access to the interior.
The observatory is looking to see if that is still a possibility.
The tower will be closed until funding and construction plans are secured to address structural issues.
