A brief period of intense showers and gusty winds will accompany Southern West Virginia Wednesday morning before turning sharply colder with snow by Thursday AM.
What to expect for today:
- A line of gusty showers will quickly push west to east this morning, which will cause some issues for the morning commute. Watch for ponding and reduced visibility. Allow for a few extra minutes. Severe threat looks very low, but an isolated severe storm or two may pop in eastern sections. Temps starting off mild in the 50s across many locations.
- A break from the rain will be likely during the middle of this morning into the early afternoon hours. However, the gusty winds will stick with us throughout the day, ranging from 30-40 MPH.
- A few pop-up showers will be possible later this afternoon. Again, although threat is low, at least a small chance for a severe storm or two
- Temperatures turn sharply colder tonight. Upper 20s to low 30s will be likely with snow showers likely during the overnight hours into Thursday. Light accumulations will be possible, particularly across the highest elevations.
