Greenbrier West High School Student tests positive for COVID-19

GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – The Greenbrier County Health Department and the WV Regional Epidemiologist have confirmed that a Greenbrier West High School student has tested positive for COVID-19.

Contact tracing has been completed, and students identified as close contacts are in quarantine. Although health officials confirm that it is safe for school to resume, they support the decision made by school officials that Greenbrier West students will learn remotely beginning Monday, September 21, through Wednesday, September 23. The facility will be cleaned and disinfected. All GWHS extra-curricular and athletic activities are canceled through Wednesday. Extra-curricular activities and practices may resume at the conclusion of the school day on Thursday, September 24.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, everyone is urged to follow best health practices. This includes wearing face coverings and practicing social distancing, hand washing, and cleaning protocols regularly.
