LEWISBURG, WV (WOAY) – The Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company is looking forward to its 2024 Outdoor Expo.
That’s when they will be releasing a brand new beer, Public Lands, in collaboration with the West Virginia chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers.
“The beer that we’re releasing is a wet, hop pale ale,” said production manager/small batch lead brewer Jeff Frizsell. “They’re a group that takes care of the public lands that we can hunt and fish on. They’re good guys. And they did the brew day with us.”
Ever since Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company came back and started brewing again the community response has been tremendous. And with their new beer…
“These were fresh hops, and we put them in the brew process. This beer is actually super unique knowing that the hops were grown in West Virginia,” Frizsell said. “(It’s) not really as high as some of the other beers we brewed but it’s a good, solid, smooth-drinking beer.”
According to Frizsell, when they do small-batch beer releases, it’s kind of a test for GVBC to see what they can upscale to the bigger brew system and put out in the market itself.
“Also, we like to send these to any kind of beer events around the area, and then get positive feedback from the competition itself,” said the production manager. “And also untapped — I mean, that’s a great way for us to see the feedback from the community — drinking the beer.”
You’ll get to enjoy the new beer brewed with fresh chinook hops locally grown in Lewisburg by Sensorium Herbals; along with music, archery, and angler exhibits.
“We got Mr. Crab’s food truck, as well as Kitchen 304 will be here,” Frizsell said. “We’ve got Jonah Carden playing music from 3 to 6. We’re gonna have a lot of Outdoor Expo event-type things set up: fly fishing expos, 3D archery expedition’s gonna be set up in the back. Should be a good time; we’d like to see everybody come out and have a good Sunday.”
