Greenbrier County, WV (WOAY) – Greenbrier County schools will serve no-cost breakfast and lunch to nearly 4,000 students for the fourth year.
The program is funded by the Community Eligibility Provision, which provides universal meal service to children in high-poverty areas.
A district is eligible if one-quarter of its population is certified for the benefits. When that happens, the entire school is eligible.
In a statement, Greenbrier County School Superintendent Jeff Bryant said, “I am proud that Greenbrier County Schools will be participating in the CEP program to help meet a crucial need for many students in our county. We know academic achievement increases when our students are well-fed and ready to learn, and we must provide secure and reliable access to nutritious meals, so all students have a chance to achieve at the highest level possible.”
