Greenbrier County hosting MLK day celebration on January 19

Lewisburg, WV (WOAY) Greenbrier County will honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a day of remembrance, reflection, and service.

The MLK Day celebration begins with an 11:00 a.m. march from the Greenbrier County Courthouse through downtown Lewisburg.
A prayer and a welcome will kick off the march with participants singing civil rights anthems along the route.
The march will end at the Lewisburg United Methodist Church.
A free community meal will follow at the church, featuring chili, wraps, and sandwiches.
At 12:30 p.m., a program will begin in the church sanctuary with local leaders, students, and community groups participating.
Lewisburg Mayor Beverly White and several faith and community leaders are scheduled to take part, along with special musical performances.
The keynote speaker is Reverend Jeremiah Jasper of Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church in Elkins, a longtime advocate for community service and outreach.
The event is open to the public, and organizers encourage the community to join the celebration.
