Greenbrier County Health Department opens new coronavirus testing site for widespread testing

LEWISBURG, WV (WOAY) – Greenbrier County Health Department has opened a new coronavirus testing site in Lewisburg for widespread testing.

According to health experts, people infected with the virus but don’t feel sick is one of the most challenging aspects of the coronavirus pandemic. And that’s why Greenbrier County Health Department has opened testing sites for everyone, even those who are asymptomatic.

“To flush out the carriers for COVID-19, we just have to do broader extended testing. Our goal today is to offer it to anyone that wants to be tested. This is the first of many testings in the next couple of weeks,” said Health Officer for Greenbrier County Bridget Morrison.

Greenbrier County Health Department is waiving all co-pays related to COVID-19 testing. Along with increased testing, Morrison also wants to remind the public to remain cautious as society continues to reopen slowly.

“Be very vigilant, a lot of people are letting their guard down and not wearing masks, they just returning to their lives as normal, we all want that to occur, but we also don’t want to burden our healthcare systems and also subject our vulnerable populations,” said Morrison.

The new testing site is located at 947 Maplewood Ave, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
