Kanawha County, WV (WOAY) – Governor Patrick Morrisey celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by signing House Bill 4087 in green ink.
This establishes the West Virginia-Ireland Education Alliance to expand academic partnerships between the two, while building on the relationship formalized in 2023 through the West Virginia-Ireland Trade Commission by adding a focus on education.
This will create new opportunities for cooperation between the state and Irish colleges.
The Higher Education Policy Commission will select one four-year and one two-year institution to partner with higher education in Ireland.
These partnerships may be eligible for a grant of up to 50 thousand, subject to the legislature.
