Governor Patrick Morrisey reflects on first year in office

Attorney General Morrisey announces representatives from his office will meet with residents across the Mountain State in December to discuss consumer-related issues.

Kanawha County, WV (WOAY) – As his first year in office comes to a close, Governor Patrick Morrisey says his administration has been working on what he calls the fundamentals: access to better infrastructure and more water and sewer resources.

In an interview with Newswatch on Tuesday morning, the Governor said he is also focused on expanding energy production and capacity. He said that is the key to bringing more jobs to West Virginia.

Governor Morrisey unveiled his plan to increase the state’s energy capacity to 50 gigawatts by 2050 earlier this year. He told us he is excited for what’s to come in West Virginia.

Governor Morrisey also provided an update on the nearly $546 million in broadband funding approved by the federal government. The money comes in the form of a broadband, equity, access, and deployment grant. The money will fund 142 projects, connecting more than 73,000 locations.

According to Governor Morrissey, West Virginia will start seeing the results of that money in 2026.
