Kanhawa, WV (WOAY) – On Tuesday afternoon, Governor Patrick Morrisey held a briefing to discuss the efforts of the police.

He started by praising the partnership with the state police and ICE, saying that on Saturday, Bridge Day alone, they made 18 immigrant arrests.

On Bridge Day, members of the police were stationed on I-77 to aid with traffic for the event. They stopped people who were disobeying traffic laws and determined that 9 were illegal immigrants who were then detained by ICE and transported to South Central Regional Jail. The other nine arrests were made along I-79.

State police with ICE have now arrested 23 illegal immigrants in West Virginia. He stated this will help combat the drug epidemic in the state.
