Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) Governor Patrick Morrisey has appointed Oak Hill resident William J. “Bill” Vest to the West Virginia House of Delegates.
Vest brings more than 40 years of public safety and administrative experience to the legislature, including more than three decades with the West Virginia corrections system.
He retired in 2022 as Acting Administrator and Superintendent of the Beckley Correctional Center.
Vest also served as Deputy Warden and Associate Warden of Security at Mount Olive Correctional Complex, where he oversaw operations, budgets and personnel.
Earlier in his career, he worked as a correctional officer and hospital security officer, and served as a Military Police officer in the U.S. Army.
Governor Morrisey says Vest’s background in law enforcement, corrections and community leadership will make him a strong voice for his constituents.
Vest is a graduate of Oak Hill High School and has completed criminal justice coursework through Glenville State College.
He currently lives in Oak Hill and is an active member of the American Legion and National Rifle Association.
