Gov. Morrisey shares latest on search and rescue mission

Nicholas County, WV (WOAY) – Governor Patrick Morrisey released a new update about the search and rescue mission at the Rolling Thunder Mine in Nicholas County.

Wednesday night, he stated that crews are continuing to lower water levels in the mine. Water is too high for entry, but conditions are still improving. On-site crews are monitoring everything, and pumps have been operating with no issues. Another pump was added on Wednesday afternoon to speed things up.

Local, state, and federal partners are continuing to work with company safety personnel to keep everyone safe.

Governor Morrisey continues to remind West Virginians to keep the miner, his family, and the rescue team in their thoughts and prayers.
