Golden Bears Ready for Return to NAIA Tournaments

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – For the second straight year, both WVU Tech basketball teams have qualified for the NAIA Division 2 National Championships.

The Lady Golden Bears will face Morningside College on Wednesday night in Sioux City, Iowa. WVU Tech was led in large part by RSC First Team selection Brittney Justice, while Alexandria Gray received Second Team honors; Anna Kowalska was Coach of the Year for a second straight season. They went a perfect 16-0 in conference play during the regular season.

This is actually the third straight NAIA Tournament appearance for the men, who face Grace College on Thursday in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Golden Bears had a new head coach for 2019-20 in James Long, but won the RSC regular season championship, which included a 12-game win streak that extended into the conference tournament. Long won Coach of the Year honors, while Junior Year was named the league’s Player of the Year.
