Charleston, WV (WOAY) – Summers County girls basketball entered the state tournament having scored 80 points in each of its first three postseason games.
In a game different from the pace of the earlier contests, the Lady Bobcats made plays throughout the evening to win 42-35 against Charleston Catholic in the state quarterfinals.
Summers County led after every quarter, but the Lady Irish – who had played them twice in the regular season – took the lead on multiple occasions, though the Lady Bobcats were quick to respond.
Whittney Justice led all scorers with 24 points, 18 of them coming in the second half. Vida Imani led Charleston Catholic with 15 points.
Summers County will play Huntington St. Joseph Central in the semifinals Friday at 1 PM. St. Joe’s won against Gilmer County Wednesday in a rematch of last year’s title game.
