Beckley, WV (WOAY): The Raleigh County Solid Waste Authority is partnering with local Girl Scouts to provide a proper retirement for American flags that are too damaged to be displayed.
A ceremony will be held Sunday at 3 P.M. at the waste authority’s Wooton Park.
Girl Scouts, led by Betty Worley, will participate in the ceremony to retire the flag in a respectful manner.
The waste authority says this is a way that it can support local organizations and help teach about environmental stewardship and community involvement.
