Athens, WV (WOAY) Mercer County High School students are turning the page on traditional field trips with a hands-on learning experience called Bookapalooza.
9th and 10th graders from Bluefield High School, Montcalm High School, Princeton Senior High School, and Pikeview High School will present peer-created projects, displays, and interactive demonstrations based on books they’ve selected and read.
The event is hosted by GEAR UP Southern West Virginia and will take place today at the Concord University ballroom.
Two sessions are scheduled from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. and again from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Organizers say Bookapalooza is designed to build a college-going culture by bringing students onto a college campus, showcasing creativity, and promoting a love of reading and discovery.
