GasBuddy reports sharp jump at the gas pump this week

West Virginia (WOAY) Drivers across West Virginia are seeing a sharp jump at the pump.
According to GasBuddy, average gas prices in the Mountain State have risen nearly 29 cents over the past week, now at $3.73 per gallon.
That’s almost 90 cents higher than a month ago and more than 87 cents higher than this time last year.
Prices vary across the state, with the cheapest station at $3.19 a gallon, while the highest reached $3.89.
Nationally, gas prices are also on the rise, up more than 24 cents this week to an average of $3.92 a gallon.
Diesel is seeing an even steeper increase, jumping to $5.22 a gallon, the highest level since November of 2022.
Nearby areas are also feeling the impact.
Prices in Charleston rose to $3.78, while drivers in Virginia are paying around $3.85 a gallon.
Experts say a mix of seasonal demand and ongoing global supply concerns is driving prices higher and warn the national average could hit $4 a gallon as early as this week.
For now, analysts say there are few signs that prices will stabilize anytime soon.
