Game times announced for WVU, Virginia Tech openers

WOAY – West Virginia’s football opener will be a noon kickoff on Saturday, September 12, as announced by the Big 12 Conference Tuesday.

The Mountaineers’ game against Eastern Kentucky is the only WVU matchup to have been given a start time so far, and it will be nationally televised. Only families of coaches and players will be able to attend, as the game is closed to the general public due to COVID-19 restrictions.

In addition, Virginia Tech’s home game against Virginia will kick off at either 3:30 PM or 7:30 PM on Saturday, September 19. Regardless of the kickoff time, the game will air locally on WOAY-TV. The university, along with the Town of Blacksburg, announced Tuesday that fans would not be able to tailgate for any fall sports events.
