WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Isolated patches of fog are possible, but much of the area will be clear of visibility issues. The main concern this morning is temperatures dipping into the 30s. A Frost Advisory is in effect for McDowell and Wyoming counties until 9 AM this morning. Frost will occur in other counties, particularly the Greenbrier Valley. However, most of the region is out of the growing season. If you are heading out this morning, wear plenty of warm layers.
As is typical for the autumn season, temperatures will rise to more comfortable values this afternoon. Highs will range in the low to mid-60s, which is around average for this time of the year. A light jacket will be handy, but you will be able to shed the warmer layers from this morning. Skies will remain sunny throughout the day, bringing a little more warmth into the region. These dry, cool conditions are brought on by a high-pressure system settling to the northeast. Due to how dry the air is at the surface, temperatures will fall quickly after sunset.
High pressure will influence the region’s weather all week long. The air remains dry in the low and mid-level atmosphere, keeping our region stable and cool. Morning lows range between the mid-30s and low 40s, helped along by efficient overnight cooling. Afternoon high remain in the lower 60s, continuing the trend of seasonable temperatures. This pattern will linger as any potential disturbances are blocked off by lingering high pressure. Changes are very few and far between until next week, leading to a practically uniform forecast. If you have any outdoor plans this week, they will likely commence without issue. Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
