Monroe County, WV (WOAY) – The U.S. Forest Service closed the Hanging Rock Raptor Observatory tower after engineers deemed the structure unsafe.
However, there’s hope for its return, and your help can make that happen.
Plans are in place to rebuild the observatory to the Forest Service specifications.
The Hanging Rock Raptor Observatory Tower is one of the oldest hawk watch points in the eastern United States, playing a vital role in tracking bird migrations and contributing to the international Motus network.
In response, Friends of Monroe have established a fund for tax-deductible donations, exclusively dedicated to the observatory’s reconstruction.
If you care about birds, migration research, or preserving this critical site, now is your opportunity to make a difference.
