Oak Hill, WV (CNN)—Cucumbers bound for 14 states have been recalled due to potential salmonella contamination.
Florida-based Fresh Start Produce Sales Inc. says the cucumbers were shipped to wholesalers and distributors from May 17-21.
The recall came after the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture found a product sample tested positive for salmonella.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is now investigating whether this is connected to any ongoing outbreaks.
Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause diarrhea, fever, vomiting, and stomach cramps.
The FDA says it’s unlikely that affected cucumbers made it to grocery stores.
However, consumers should check with their grocers to be sure.
